I did a harder workout today (It's been 2 1/2 weeks) but not as much as I was doing before. I'll still be recovering for a couple more weeks. I'm not sure about my next marathon. I think I'm going to cut back and do some shorter races for a while.

I'm glad the IT band is feeling better. Just add miles to your long run slowly and you'll probably do fine. If you add miles too fast that's when people usually get hurt.Merrileehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13854098772332928119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6157145658171002269.post-17752574024883248502011-06-25T22:42:00.258-05:002011-06-25T22:42:00.258-05:00I would love to do the Half Marathon, that one is ...I would love to do the Half Marathon, that one is on a Saturday. I think in January. I would have to look it up again.

I haven't felt the IT band in weeks. However I haven't run further than 5 miles since my half marathon on May 7th, so it may still be an issue with a long run. I need to do a long run, but I'm nervous. So I'm gradually upping the miles again to see how things go. Plus I'm trying to run more often in the week to get my body more used to running. Last time I trained I ran twice a week. One short run and one long run. This time my hopes is to do a long run every week and 3 shorter runs.

How long of a break did you take from running after you ran your marathon?

Also, when is your next marathon?Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02280368123968990873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6157145658171002269.post-69088433760420814432011-06-24T22:50:20.277-05:002011-06-24T22:50:20.277-05:00No I haven't but I think they would be fun! I...No I haven't but I think they would be fun! I try to avoid Sunday races. (That's a lot easier in Utah than other places in the country.) That's the main reason I haven't tried them but I would love to run one of them sometime. I saw some of the finishers medals once and they were really cool. (I know-dumb reason to run a race.) I'm assuming it would probably be expensive like anything Disney but worth it. Let me know how you like it if you try one! By the way, has your IT band problem gone away?Merrileehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13854098772332928119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6157145658171002269.post-91192045763015558982011-06-23T07:08:20.986-05:002011-06-23T07:08:20.986-05:00Thanks for the advice Merrilee. This makes me feel better about Saturday already!
By the way, have you ever done the Disney half Marathon or Disney Marathon? If so, did you like it?Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02280368123968990873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6157145658171002269.post-64776893997494709152011-06-22T23:27:09.889-05:002011-06-22T23:27:09.889-05:00Good luck! If it makes you feel any better I've heard the night's sleep that really counts is two nights before-not the night before. I'm not sure how true that is but I have had some horrible races when I didn't get sleep two nights before the race. So just try to get a good night's sleep Thursday night. I only got 3 hours of sleep the night before my marathon last week!Merrileehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13854098772332928119noreply@blogger.com
